HAMBURG (INTELLIHUB) — President Donald Trump addressed Russia’s alleged interference with the 2016 election at a press conference in Germany Friday where he told reporters that “other countries” may have been involved and that Obama knew about it.
“I won’t be specific [which countries] but I think a lot of people interfere,” President Trump said. “It’s been happening for a long time […] many, many, years.”
Additionally, President Trump told reporters that Obama knew about the issue in August of 2016 but failed to act because he thought Hillary Clinton was destined to win.
“Why did he do nothing about it?” Trump questioned.
“He was told in early August by, presumably, the CIA that Russia was trying to get involved or meddling pretty strongly with the election [but] he did nothing about it. The reason is: he thought Hillary was going to win. And if he thought I was going to win he would have done plenty about it.,” Trump said.
While President Trump agreed he thinks that Russia was interfering, he said that a few other countries probably were as well.
